Latitude 40 Podcast

Season 2

Season 2 of Latitude 40 - Stories from the Edge, marks a new chapter in the Islander Way journey.

Hosted by Jacqui Cooper and Jamie West, this season continues the conversation about the future of Flinders Island — but with fresh voices, deep reflection, and a growing sense of collective ownership.

Building on the regenerative tourism foundations laid in Series 1, Series 2 explores what it means to live well on an island at the edge — socially, economically and environmentally. Through thoughtful, honest conversations with community members, Jacqui and Jamie delve into leadership, resilience, inclusion, enterprise and the evolving role of visitors in our shared future.

This is not just a tourism podcast. It is a living record of a community shaping its own story.

Season 1

Series 1 of Latitude 40 - Redesigning tourism on a small island, hosted by Josie Major and Debbie Clarke, formed part of the Islander Way regenerative tourism project on Flinders Island, Tasmania.

The Islander Way project was developed to co-design the future of tourism with and for the community, guided by regenerative tourism principles.

In the opening episode, Dianne Dredge from Designing Tourism and The Tourism CoLab introduces the vision and framework behind the project. Subsequent episodes feature personal reflections from Islanders on what makes Flinders Island special, their hopes for a flourishing future, and the role tourism and visitors might play in supporting that vision.

Conversations included Mel Telfer, Ben Backhaus, Lois Ireland, Annie Revie, Peter Rhodes and Wendy Jubb-Stoney— capturing a moment in time when the community began articulating its aspirations out loud.
