Postcards with Purpose

Small Scans, Big Impact on Flinders Island

You may have noticed our gorgeous feedback postcards popping up around the Island lately - at the Airport, Bowmans, Walkers, at the Council office, or handed over with a friendly smile.

They’re designed especially for visitors and include a QR code linking to a quick 2-minute survey.

The survey is short by design, making it easy for visitors to share their experience while it’s fresh. That feedback helps shape future decisions and supports better outcomes for the Island, our community, and the environment.

As a thank you, visitors receive a postcard keepsake for the fridge - a simple reminder of their time on Flinders Island and the part they played in supporting it.

If you have guests staying over summer, please encourage them to take part. One small scan helps gather valuable insights and invites visitors to think more thoughtfully about how they travel, spend, and connect while they’re here - supporting a regenerative tourism economy that works for everyone.

Why it matters

These postcards are an invitation to pause, scan, and learn how everyday choices can make a real difference — to local people, local businesses, and the long-term wellbeing of this place.

They gently encourage visitors to:

  • Spend money where it stays local, supporting jobs and economic vibrancy

  • Choose locally produced food, strengthening Island food security

  • Be thoughtful in interactions, embracing island time and saying thank you (and waving)

  • Support a circular economy, reducing waste that stays on Island

  • Value volunteers, who quietly keep the Island running

  • Buy local art, crafts and goods, backing Island creativity

  • Pay attention to where money goes, supporting businesses that reinvest locally

It’s all part of contributing to a regenerative tourism economy — one that supports community, environment and culture, not just the visitor experience.

Small cards. Big idea.

These postcards aren’t about rules or restrictions. They’re about awareness, respect and reciprocity.

A quick scan opens the door to more thoughtful travel — helping ensure Flinders Island is not just remembered, but genuinely supported.

Thanks for helping spread the word 💛
