Ready for Your Wildlife Encounter?
Flinders Island is home to remarkable native wildlife, but when an animal is injured, orphaned or in distress, help isn't always close by.
Flinders Island is fortunate to have a small number of dedicated wildlife carers, but given the size of our island and the nature of wildlife emergencies, community members are often the first to come across injured, orphaned or distressed animals. Knowing how to respond can make a real difference.
Thanks to support from Animals Tasmania, the Furneaux Collective is delivering a Wildlife Carer Education & Recruitment Campaign designed specifically for Flinders Island.
The project will include a practical community workshop covering topics such as:
Recognising when wildlife needs help
Basic wildlife first aid principles
Safe handling and transport
What is involved in becoming a wildlife carer
Whether you're interested in becoming a wildlife carer, want to feel more confident responding to wildlife emergencies, or simply care about the wellbeing of our native animals, we'd love to hear from you.
